The Clarion

Produced by Students, For Students

Stories and music have always found their way through generations, even as everything else changes. There was a time when people sat by the radio, building entire worlds in their minds just by listening. Now, theatre brings those same feelings into something you can actually see and share with others.

From March 20 – 28, Sinclair Community College will present “Amélie the Musical” at the Blair Hall Theatre in Building 2 on the downtown Dayton campus, creating a space where imagination doesn’t just stay in your head as it unfolds right in front of you. It almost feels like something familiar, just seen in a new way.

Based on the French film “Amélie,” the story follows a young woman who feels more at home in her imagination than in the real world. When she discovers a box of childhood treasures hidden in her apartment as she begins returning it and, along the way, starts quietly helping the people around her.

What makes this production stand out is how music carries that journey forward. It doesn’t sit in the background, it becomes the voice of the characters, filling in the spaces where words fall short. With music by Daniel Messé, lyrics by Messé and Nathan Tysen, and a book by Craig Lucas, the show blends storytelling and sound in a way that feels personal rather than distant.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors, with an additional $2 service fee. All tickets must be purchased online, and there will be no ticket sales at the door. Groups of 20 or more can receive waived ticketing fees when ordering online.
