College students go together like cake and icecream, practically inseparable. However, opinions split, trenches are dug and war banners are raised when the best type of computer is debated.
Opinions are split on multiple different areas. Some prefer the customization and compatibility options of Windows, while other brand loyalists prefer the friendly user interface and strong security of Mac devices. Sinclair College students and faculty shared their opinions on which one is truly best.
Todd Simpson
Simpson formerly sold computers before coming to Sinclair and sided firmly with Windows.
“That’s just something I always had been using. When I first started out in the industry, we sold both Apple’s and IBM’s, but the personal computer I ended up buying at that time was a Windows-based computer,” Simpson said.
Rosi Green
Another vote for Windows, Green expressed love for what is already well known to her.
“Because I’m more familiar with it…I like Mac just because I’m very used to Apple products and it just seems to run smoother, quicker but I like what I have now just because I feel like it’s probably more reliable,” Green said.
Robyn Razor
Windows surely took home the gold as it swept the competition. Razor sided with Windows while acknowledging the younger generations leanings toward Mac.
“It’s what the college provides for faculty…I’m not that familiar with Mac I know my kids use it, but I think it goes more with my iPhone stuff…I am only familiar with Windows because that’s what was brought up for us,” Razor said.
Windows is the predominant operating system used by students and faculty on campus. The reason is that Windows has more familiarity with people. Not only that but Sinclair provides windows computers for faculty and students which further incentivizes their use. Although this small sample size does not determine a clear victor, Mac still has plenty of dogs in the fight.
