While summer will take another month to officially begin, for most people the seasons festivities start on Memorial Day. The day is set aside to honor the fallen U.S. military personnel, and people have many different ways of celebrating and commemorating the holiday. Here are five Memorial Day events for anyone to enjoy.
Young’s Jersey Dairy Memorial Day Weekend
The annual Jersey Dairy festivities at Young’s Dairy will be held from May 21 to May 25. The event will run all day with activities like carnival rides, batting cages and more.

General admission to the farm is free of charge. However, prices for activities vary, with tickets for rides starting at $1.50 each or $25 for an all day ride pass. The event will also host live music as well. Families from all over the Dayton region are invited to come to Young’s Dairy to cool off and celebrate the start of summer.
Garden Bros Nuclear Circus at Montgomery County Fairgrounds
Stop by to see the Garden Bros Nuclear Circus this Memorial Day weekend at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. The show will run multiple times May 21-25. Admission begins at $15 for kids and varies by seating preferences.
The circus will include acrobatics, motorcycle riders, clowns and more. Families of all ages can enjoy fun classics at one of America’s oldest traveling circuses.

Miamisburg Memorial Day Parade
Miamisburg will host its annual parade on Memorial Day, May 31. The event starts at 11:00 a.m. and is open to the public at no cost. Expect to see veterans organizations, high school bands, community members and more.
After the parade, spectators can attend “picnic in the park” at the Veterans Memorial Park located at 426 East Central Avenue.
Kettering Memorial Day 5K
Avid runners and casual walkers can begin their registration for the Kettering Memorial Day 5K which will take place on May 25 at the Kettering Recreation Complex. The race will kick off around 8:30 a.m. Cost depends on when you register and which race category you enter.
Compete in a 5K race or take your toddlers for a stroll with the Mini March. The race is put on by the Dayton Track Club and welcomes runners and walkers of all abilities and ages.
Heritage Day with the Dayton Philharmonic
Experience Heritage Day with the Dayton Philharmonic on May 24 at the Carillon Historical Park. Activities will start in the afternoon and go into the night. Ticket prices vary but children’s tickets may be discounted.

Explore historic homes, meet costumed interpreters and enjoy live musical acts from the Dayton Philharmonic. Heritage Day is a great way to celebrate traditions and learn about the history of Dayton.
