Art for everyone: Open studio session at The Contemporary Dayton

ByTheClarion

Jan 8, 2026

Tonight, Jan. 8, from 5-8 p.m., artists, hobbyists and any interested person are invited to an open art studio session. The event is hosted by The Contemporary Dayton located at 25 W Fourth Street. This is an evening centered around creativity, expression and bonding.

Dayton is home to a bustling and growing art scene of professionals and amateurs alike. However, art can feel like an exclusive club with a distinction between “real” artists and people who enjoy arts and crafts.

The Contemporary Dayton’s open studio session melds the two worlds with the open studio session, allowing anyone who wishes to create art inside of an authentic art gallery.

No experience is needed and everyone is welcome. Enjoy the soothing evening by creating art in a warm atmosphere. You can bring a project in progress for feedback or simply create art alongside others.

Collage and sketching materials will be provided or bring your own brushes, canvases and supplies.

Please note: Do not bring oil, acrylic paints or charcoal as this session is for cleaner materials.

There will be a $10 fee for non-members and it’s free for members of The Contemporary. Grab your colors, brush, and see where your creative mind leads you to.
