Fall semester is officially in full swing at Sinclair College. As the homework, quizzes and tests begin to pile on, students are sure to be looking for a way to relax. Luckily movie marathons are the perfect getaway from academic stress. Here is a list of our top five movie picks for the upcoming fall season.
The Naked Gun (2025)

There is nothing more satisfying than having a good laugh after a long week of academic commitment. Starring Liam Neeson somewhat uncharacteristically, this film remodels an old classic with a fresh touch.
It is based on the TV show “Police Squad”. However, this is not your typical brute crime movie. This movie’s commitment to having a joke gag every 45 seconds is astounding, and guaranteed to incite some involuntary laughter.
Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning
This movie truly needs no introduction. Tom Cruise is back on the silver screen for one last ride as “Mission Impossible” returns.

In his final spin as Ethan Hunt, he goes rogue in his attempt to track down, Gabriel, the Entity’s former proxy. This attempt takes another twist as he is captured by Gabriel. This movie is a great watch especially together with friends as Tom Cruise risks his life for our entertainment.
Freakier Friday

Relive the 2003 classic as Freaky Friday gets a new reboot on Disney. It features its signature body-swap gimmick. However, there is more swaps this time, making it an even freakier Friday.
A palm reading from a psychic takes an unexpected turn as a series of body swaps occur. Anna (Lindsay Lohan) swaps with Harper, her 15-year-old daughter, while Anna’s incoming stepdaughter, Lilly, swaps with Anna’s mom, Tessa. Confusing? You need to see this to appreciate the state of it. Have a good laugh with friends by seeing the masterpiece on a cozy weekend.
The Roses

This movie is a great watch especially for college students as it explores the complexities of relationships. Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Ivy Rose, a once near-perfect couple go through a series of relationship trials as Theo’s finances takes a nosedive while Ivy’s businesses flourish.
What would ideally be a supportive phase for the couple turns out to be a power-struggle, sort of. Featuring intense dialogue, light-hearted moments, comic relief and very relatable, this movie is a must-watch. “The Roses” is showing in theaters now.
Wicked (2024)
If you enjoy magic and fantasy, then this movie is for you. Wicked is trending again for its exciting and enthralling storytelling, and rightly so too. This movie is the prequel to the infamous Wizard of Oz.

It tells the story of young woman, Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) who crosses paths with Glinda the Good (Ariana Grande), as they study magic at the Shiz University. This friendship turns sour as their paths ultimately takes different turns following their encounter with the Wizard of Oz.
