US Marshals rescued 200 missing children in a nationwide operation last week. The six-week effort saw coordination across several federal, state, and local agencies. Abducted children and endangered runaways were among those rescued according to a press release by the federal agency.
Data on Operation We Will Find You 2 shows that of the 200 rescued 173 were endangered runaways, 25 were missing, and two were abducted. Of that number, the youngest child rescued was five months old. The geographical spread of the operation was orchestrated from six states ranging from the Pacific Northwest to the south of the country.
In a statement, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland said, “There are no words to describe the terror felt by missing children, their families, and their communities.”
He thanked the agencies involved for making the six-week operation a success. The list of participating agencies including the National Cener for Endangered Children and the Department of Children and Family Services among many others.
Data shows that over 800,000 children are reported missing in the US each year. If you or someone you know has information that can help bring one of those children home, please call 911 immediately.
