The nursing program has added a Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) display as a part of the free blood pressure screenings they provide in Sinclair Community College’s library.

“It’s called ‘winter depression,'” said nursing student, Richard Wells.

The nursing program have papers that lists several of the symptoms for S.A.D., which includes lethargy, physical ailments, behavioral problems, change in sleep patterns, and depression.

“We’ve gotten a lot of responses on [the S.A.D. display],” Wells said.

A woman thought her daughter might have S.A.D. after seeing the display and reading about the symptoms, Wells said. They want to provide education of different health issues to the students, Wells added.

“We try to give them a basic education and give them something to [build on],” Wells said.
