WWE Smackdown Review: 4/16/19

SmackDown was live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada for SmackDown Live. This is night no. 2 of the Superstar Shake-Up. On Raw, we saw stars make their way to Monday Nights. However, the tides have turned and it is time to find out who is going to be making their way to blue brand?

SmackDown kicked off with none other than Ontario, Canada’s own Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens is out to host the Kevin Owens Show. He brings out his guest, the WWE Champion Kofi Kingston.

He announces that the New Day is down a member because Big E suffered an injury in a match last week. So, Kevin Owens offers a proposition to become a temporary member of New Day.

Kevin Owens, I mean Big O,  swiveled his hips, wore a crop top and put on a unicorn horn to officially become a member of the New Day. It is then announced there will be a six-person tag with the New Day taking on Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev & Cesaro.

Finn Balor v. Ali

The first superstar making his way to SmackDown is none other than the Intercontinental Champion Finn Balor. He makes his SmackDown debut against the highflying upstart Ali.

Two of the brightest up and comers in WWE squared off in a highflying back and forth contest. Ali seemed to be closing in on a win, but Balor was able to duck a 450 splash attempt to send Ali into the corner which led to a Coup de Grace for the win.

Finn Balor has made a strong statement in his debut on SmackDown.

Carmella v. Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair returns to SmackDown for the first time since WrestleMania to take on the winner of the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal Carmella. What will be on the mind of Charlotte Flair after losing the biggest match of her career at WrestleMania?

Each woman put everything to send a message to Becky Lynch. However, it was Charlotte who was able to target an injured knee of Carmella and lock in the Figure 8 for the submission win.

After the match, Lars Sullivan made his presence known by attacking R-Truth and leaving him lying with the Freak Accident. Lars then locked eyes on Carmella. Carmella instantly became frozen with fear before running away.

Lars then attacked R-Truth one more time hitting a massive running powerbomb. Lars is continuing to take out superstars one after another.

Becky Lynch Responds to the Superstar Shake-Up

Becky Lynch has continuously proven everything she has said she was going to do. She is going to both shows and is demanding new competition. Before she could continue, SmackDown’s newest members of the SmackDown Women’s Division Ember Moon and Bayley who came to SmackDown to make an opportunity to chase Becky Lynch’s titles.

Then, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The IIconics, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville came out to lock eyes with the Champions. Then, Paige came out to introduce her new team that will be the next WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Asuka and the newest woman to SmackDown, Kairi Sayne.

The two former NXT Women’s Champions ran down to the ring to join the brawl of women in the ring.

The IIconics, Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose v. Kairi Sayne, Asuka, Ember Moon & Bayley

The brawl leads to a massive 8 women tag team match. The new members of SmackDown look to send a message to the entire locker room and the Champions. However, the women of SmackDown look to show who runs SmackDown.

Each women had their opportunity to shine and send a strong message. The IIconics attempted to show why they are the rightful Women’s Tag Team Champions, however it was Asuka who was able to hit a massive reverse DDT to lead to an Insayne Elbow by Kairi Sayne for the win.

Is the team of Kairi Sayne & Asuka the future WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions?

The New Day v. Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura, & Rusev

After completing his initiation, Big O is now ready to team with the New Day to take on Cesaro, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev.

The new New Day clicked on all cylinders. No matter the struggles, Kevin Owens was able to help the New Day pick up a win.

After assists by Kofi & Xavier, Big O was able to hit the Stunner on Rusev for the pin and the win. Is this a spark of a unique tag team?

Vince McMahon Announces the Biggest Acquisition in SmackDown History

It was announced early Tuesday that Vince McMahon is coming to SmackDown to announce the biggest signing in SmackDown history. Who is the newest addition to SmackDown Live?

Vince comes out to a raucous ovation from Montreal. He creates suspense and then announces the newest signee to SmackDown is, Elias. Elias comes out and announces there is a new era on SmackDown and it is led by Elias. This continues until, Roman Reigns makes his way to SmackDown Live.

He comes out and claims that SmackDown is his yard now. He comes out and takes out Elias and then delivers a Superman Punch to Mr. McMahon.

Conclusion

The landscape of SmackDown Live has completely changed. The arrival of Roman Reigns drastically changed the scene of the SmackDown Live roster.

Also, the arrival of Finn Balor and the new women of SmackDown brings a whole new environment on the blue brand. What is next for SmackDown Live?
