Breaks are refreshing and necessary, but they can also throw students out of their routines. As Sinclair students get back into the groove this spring semester, here are a few tips to make sure they are prepared.
Purchase school supplies
There are more supplies to collect than one might realize. Students need to make sure they have enough notebook paper for notes and a binder for each class; the proper calculator if a math class is scheduled; as well plenty of highlighters, pencils and pens.

Tartans even need to consider whether the right bookbag has been purchased. For example, if one has back issues a bookbag on wheels may be more appropriate.
Don’t become that student that is scrambling last minute and asking other students, “Can I borrow a pen?” Make a list and check it twice.
Map out your schedule
Students should print off their schedules to see where their classes are located. Going before the start of classes can help students know where each class is located and where to park. This small step goes a long way in helping with time management.

Adjust sleep schedules
Sleeping in can be fun, but if early classes are scheduled, going to bed earlier can help a student wake up on time and prepare themselves for the day.
Routines are very important when trying to be successful. Get some sleep, wake up early, grab a cup of coffee and eat algebra for breakfast.
Tackle some household chores
This is the least fun task on this list, but cleaning a house before the start of classes can help reduce stress and workload.
Assignments will begin to pile up as the semester starts. Take care of the pile of dishes that’s in the sink to help lessen the gigantic to-do list.

Do something fun
Students should go to dinner, catch a movie, go for a walk or buy a new outfit for their first day of class. This will help to alleviate some anxiety and relax the brain before all the hard work begins with spring classes.
No matter how a student prepares for spring semester, it pays to remember that school is not going to last forever.
This is just a chapter of life and soon graduation will arrive. Tartans should stay strong and give themselves plenty of praise for their accomplishments, large and small, all semester long.
