The Clarion

Produced by Students, For Students

The Sinclair College cafeteria has been an integral part of campus life since its unveiling in the seventies. The variety of choices and quality of dishes is a breath of fresh air, especially compared to the cardboard-like texture and taste of high school cafeteria food.

The pizza buffet, the grill, the glut of snacks and a rotating schedule of catering restaurants are safe havens for hungry students at decent prices.

While the cafeteria is an amazing addition to campus, is there anything the cafeteria can improve on? What do students love about the cafeteria? We asked three Sinclair students for their thoughts.

Kamea Blaine

Blaine is currently studying exploratory STEM here at Sinclair before transferring to the University of Cincinnati to pursue astrophysics. Blaine recounts the first time they entered the cafeteria.

“The first time I went into the [cafeteria], I was kinda shocked by how much was available… All the different options in there at each little counter,” Blaine said.

If Blaine could change one thing about the cafeteria, it would be longer summer hours.

“I understand why it closes earlier, but it would be nice to have it open late enough that those with packed schedules, such as myself, can grab something to eat,” Blaine said.

Jacob Dalinghaus

Dalinghaus is an English education major here at Sinclair, he has nothing but positive feedback for the cafeteria.

“I think their service is pretty good, most of the time… My favorite guest restaurant here is Gyro Palace,” Dalinghaus said.

When asked about any possible critiques, Dalinghaus had no complaints.

“There is nothing I really don’t like about the [cafeteria]…My favorite thing about the food at Sinclair is that there is this woman who works at the Building 13 cafeteria, She’s really nice and makes the best calzones,” Dalinghaus said.

Miles Ashebrooke. CONTRIBUTED

Miles Ashbrooke

Ashbrooke also had very few complaints about the cafeteria.

“I like the variety of options, I like [Gyro Palace], the Greek fries they have are amazing. I wish the cafeteria had lower-calorie sodas, though,” Ashbrooke said.

Since the 1970s, the Sinclair cafeteria has been a godsend for every hungry student needing to grab a savory bite.  Students are grateful to all the hardworking people who enable the cafeteria to run at such an efficient and high-quality level.
