What You Should Do In Case of Severe Weather

We have seen a few snowfalls this past Sunday in Ohio. The forecast is announcing more snow in the next few days. In fact, a winter storm warning will go into effect from late night Tues. Jan. 24 through Wed. Jan. 25 in the evening. A few inches of snow are expected along with some rain. This means that traveling and commuting will be difficult as roads will be rendered unsafe. In case of severe winter weather, here is some information you should keep in mind:

  • Layer up: Wear warm winter clothing (hats, gloves, scarves, coats, socks, boots etc…)
  • If possible, stay off the roads. Stay home.
  • Top off your gas tank.
  • Proceed with caution on the roads. Beware of your surroundings and minimize distractions.
  • Check your tire pressure.
  • Carry an emergency kit.
  • Limit your time outside. If you need to go outside.
  • Avoid overexertion when walking in the snow.
  • Spread ice melts on your driveway.
  • Stay informed and be careful.

In case of inclement weather, Sinclair Community College may close or operate on revised hours. Here’s how this may affect your class schedules. If Sinclair closes its locations, all face-to-face classes will be canceled. Classes may still be held virtually or in a hybrid form at the instructor’s discretion. It is important to check your Sinclair email and your e-learn page for updates from your instructor. In the instance of a delay (typically a 2-hour delay), Sinclair won’t be open until 10 a.m. This means that any class normally held between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. will be canceled. Starting at 10 a.m., any class with 50 minutes or more remaining meeting time will be maintained unless instructor notified otherwise.
