Sinclair Launches Scholarship Program For Students Enrolled In Fall Term

Sinclair Community College has begun a $200,000 scholarship program for students registered for the fall semester. The scholarships will be given away each week from August 2-23. Students are automatically entered into the drawing once they register for classes.

The scholarships, worth $5,000 each, will be awarded to ten students every Monday in August. Five of the scholarships chosen will be awarded to new students and the other five will be awarded to returning students. After a student is chosen, their name is removed from the drawing so other students will have a chance to win.

The drawing gives Sinclair the chance to extend their reach to as many students in need of financial help as they can. “Some students who are not eligible for the federal emergency relief funding now have a chance to receive assistance through the drawings,” said Matthew Moore, Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Operations and Student Services at Sinclair.

Sinclair has distributed over $7.3 million in emergency relief funding to more than 8,000 students since March of last year and plans to increase that number by 2022. According to Moore, who is also the Director of Financial Aid and Scholarships, Sinclair will announce plans for a new $16 million relief funding program through the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund.

Sinclair will also launch a $1 million program called “Retake a Class on Us” which will allow students to retake any class needed in the 2021 fall term or the 2022 spring term with no cost. This will enable students who either failed or dropped out of a class to take the class again with no charge.

The scholarship funding will be available to the winning students immediately and will cover tuition, books and other expenses before any other form of financial aid. Any additional aid, like grants, will be available after the scholarship. There is no minimum requirement for credit hours to be eligible. Students taking any number of credit hours have a chance of running.

Registration is currently open for the fall semester and classes start Monday, August 23. For registration help and additional information visit sinclair.edu.
