With 2017 fast approaching, we turn our sights as to what we have coming up for the New Year. Several big name movies are just around the corner from being released in the New Year that may have us all at the edge of our seats just waiting for them to come out one by one.

At the start of the year, as early as February we have the release of ‘Fifty Shades Darker,’ the sequel to the first installment of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ is finally making the scene.  It took some time to find someone to replace Kelly Marcel who was a writer for the sequel, but finally the movie is back on track.

Following ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ is the first ‘LEGO Batman’ movie that was taken from Will Arnett’s version of Batman in ‘The LEGO Movie.’ Creators of the new LEGO movie promise it to hold justice to all versions of Batman, while holding some of the hilarity that the LEGO series has always been known for. This title will be just another one we can look forward to in February.

Starting off the movie list for March is ‘Logan’, which of course is starring Hugh Jackman as he makes his last appearance as the well-known X-Men hero. The plot hasn’t fully been revealed yet nor has the cast. With this being the last Wolverine film Jackman is going to be in, it may be worth seeing how they wrap it all up and leave us on a good note especially if X-Men continue on without Jackman.

Next on the list for a release in March is the reboot of King Kong, which is titled, ‘Kong: Skull Island.’ The movie is supposed to star J.K Simmons, Michael Keeton and Tom Hiddleston. With the cast the film is expected to do well enough that King Kong might make an appearance in a future film with Godzilla.

Wrapping up the end of March is Disney’s next live action version of one of its classic animated films, ‘Beauty and the Beast.’  The movie is already expected to do well between the cast and director. Whether or not this movie will be as promising as the live action ‘Jungle Book’ or ‘Cinderella’ has yet to be seen. All that has been promised so far is that it will be a delight for both adults and kids.

Racing in in April is ‘Fast and Furious 8.’ The series was confirmed to be seeing a continuing after Paul Walker’s character was wrapped up in its previous installment. The plot of this newest installment of the series has yet to be revealed, but at least it seems that the show is going to go on.

Coming into May with the next release is the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2.’ With the cast of the first movie returning for another thrilling adventure, we will have to be waiting to see how this movie is going to set the way for the next Avengers movie that will no doubt have something to do with the plot of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2.’

Following Guardians of the Galaxy for a May release is ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII.’ Finally we will get to see the story continue forward as the First Order’s plot starts to become more apparent and perhaps we may even learn the true identity of the newest Jedi, Rei. Either way, it’s said that this movie will be a big follow up to The Force Awakens.

Opening into the start of the summer season in June, we have the release of ‘Toy Story 4.’ The plot is said to center around Bonnie that was introduced in ‘Toy Story 3.’ This story is promising to follow a new set of toys that we haven’t seen just yet, but maybe we will still get a cameo of some of the old gang from the previous titles.

Following ‘Toy Story 4,’ is the long awaited ‘Wonder Woman’ which is to be released at the end of June. After her debut in ‘Batman V. Superman,’ Wonder Woman will finally be getting her own stand alone movie and be of the first female super heroes to have a stand alone. How they will depict her story we will just have to wait and see.

There are two movies that are to be released in July, although neither of them have official titles yet. The movies that are under production and will most likely be getting an official title later are a new ‘Planet of the Apes’ and a reboot of Spiderman that will most likely match the Spiderman we saw in Captain America: Civil War.

Moving right along into August at the end of the summer, we have the release of ‘Pacific Rim 2.’ If you’ve seen the first ‘Pacific Rim,’ then you know this means this will be another movie that involves large man piloted robots. Exactly what the movie entails as a plot so far has yet to be revealed, but who doesn’t love giant robots?

Finally coming into the end of the year of 2017 and said to release in November we have two big name movies that will most likely give our year a good wrap up. With ‘Thor: Ragnorok’ releasing and long awaited, ‘Justice League Part I’ we are in for a treat for next winter. Thor’s new movie will most likely play a key plot point into building up for Infinity War, as it was hinted at in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.’ DC has much work to do to catch up to Marvel in making sure that their Justice League does justice for their iconic heroes.
