Christmas cinema: No. 10

A brief argument over the hilarity of “Christmas Vacation” got me to thinking: what are the best Christmas movies of my generation?

I decided to put a top ten list together and post one movie per day until Thursday, Dec. 24. The only guideline for the list is the film must be released no earlier than 1980.

10. “Christmas Vacation” (1989)

Let the abuse begin.

I’m not a fan of this movie, but how can so many people be wrong. I’ve caught a lot of flack recently because I am openly against this film. The main reason for my dislike of Christmas Vacation centers around my inability to laugh at Chevy Chase.

The third installment of the National Lampoon series dives into the disaster that is the Griswold family during Christmas time. Clark Griswold (Chase) spills his way through 97 minutes of Christmas hell. Cousin Eddie (Randy Quiad) hands out the majority of the laughs with his redneck antics and filthy mouth.

Let me know what you think about the film and where you think it should be on the list. And have a Merry Christmas!
