Three players moving on from Pride baseball

Three players from the Sinclair baseball program will attend new schools this fall. Shortstop Blaine Reese moves on to Maryville College, outfielder Dan Marsh takes his game to Wright State University and first baseman Ricky Masson is transferring to Shawnee State University, according to Sinclair baseball’s Web site www.eteamz.com/SCC/.

Marsh and Masson were two of the Pride’s four captains during the Pride’s 36-12 season.

Marsh was named to the OCCAC All-Conference Team and NJCAA Region 12 All-Tournament team during his 2009 season in which he hit .397 with an on-base percentage well over .500 in 46 games. Along with his on-the-field accomplishments, Marsh was a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American during his tenure at Sinclair.

Masson was a member of the academic All-Conference team during his 2009 season. He hit .338 with 37 RBIs in 46 games.

Reese hit .238 in 30 games last season. Maryville College is located in Maryville, Tenn. and its baseball program finished 22-18 in 2009.

Pride recruit taken by Brewers

Franklin-Monroe pitcher Austin Pressly was picked in the 23rd round by the Milwaukee Brewers in the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft on June 9. Pressly, a member of Sinclair coach Steve Dintaman’s 2009 recruiting class, didn’t allow an earned run during his senior season.
