The recent video game scene has been, in my opinion, repetitive.
Recent releases, especially those from the AAA Game Companies, have felt empty of care or creativity. I feel like so many new games are afraid of scaring off the player by being too difficult or different, which makes for a monotonous echo chamber in the video game industry.

Indie developers have been gaining a lot more attention for their projects recently, with the genre becoming more popular with players who seek a new experience.
Finnish game developer Miro Haverinen released “Fear and Hunger” in December of 2018, and “Fear and Hunger 2: Termina” in December of 2022. The second game of the series has gained a lot of traction for its brutal gameplay style and gritty tone.
“Fear and Hunger 2: Termina” is an RPG-style survival horror game known for its relentless and oppressive atmosphere. The game takes place in 1942, following 14 train passengers who find themselves stranded on the outskirts of the small and strange town of Prehevil.
I think the game combines a lot of different mechanics and gameplay styles that make it especially immersive. The story is so refreshing to me because it isn’t afraid to make the player uncomfortable.
“Termina” is known in its small but growing community for its intensity and difficulty. With the game’s indie development on RPG-Maker, the occasional glitch and error is inevitable. These glitches create an unpolished and gritty feel to the game that is hard to replicate elsewhere.

I think that community is such a huge part of what draws us as people to gaming. “Fear and Hunger” has grown a dedicated fanbase that serves as a great example of what gaming communities can be.
