Many rumors have been going around after controversy was sparked when youngest Jonas brother, Frankie, posted a video on TikTok wearing a Scientology chain and encouraging people to “wear my Scientology chain and pose”.
Many of the TikTok stars, athletes, and musicians that are in the video faced major backlash because of the history of Scientology.
Scientology “offers a precise path leading to a complete and certain understanding of one’s true spiritual nature and one’s relationship to self, family, groups, Mankind, all life forms, the material universe, the spiritual universe, and the Supreme Being.”
Scientology is a type of religion that shares many similarities with a cult. It has been known to make its followers cut off ties with their family, friends, etc. so they invest their full self into the church. Scientology also has a history of sexual assault and manipulating its followers.
Charli D’Amelio, Lil Huddy, Noah Beck, and Suni Lee are just a few names of influencers that have posted themselves wearing the chain, which has double triangles and a large “S” through the middle of the piece.
Although some people found it funny that the stars did this without knowing the meaning behind Scientology, other people were concerned about how easy it is for someone influential on the internet to convince people into doing something, even if they know nothing about it.
Frankie Jonas is not believed to be involved in Scientology, but the question of why he was wearing the chain still remains. The video has since been deleted, but not before it went viral. None of the influences have made a comment on the situation yet.
