October can be a tough month, full of pink ribbons, powerful stories and reminders of how breast cancer touches so many lives. But it is also a month of hope, unity and education. Whether you are looking to learn, walk, laugh or simply show support, these local events offer something meaningful for everyone.

Sinclair’s Breast Health Education “Day of Empowerment”

This Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sinclair College is hosting the “Day of Empowerment” in Building 12.

This community event, organized by the Norma J. Ross Memorial Foundation, focuses on breast health education and empowerment. 

Attendees can expect engaging workshops, panel discussions and booths promoting early detection and healthy living. There will also be music, giveaways and inspiring survivor stories.

What makes the “Day of Empowerment” special is its focus on both education and community connection. It is not just about awareness, it is about giving people the tools and knowledge to take charge of their health all year long.

The HER2-Revue Boo-lesque Bash

Daytonians should prepare for a small drive. The HER2-Revue Boo-lesque Bash is coming to the Sotto Terra at The Sanctuary in Columbus on Oct. 16 at 8 p.m..

This Halloween-themed burlesque show takes a bold, entertaining approach to breast cancer awareness. Expect live performances, costumes and a fun night out, all while supporting a serious cause. 

Proceeds benefit breast cancer charities, making it a night of laughter, empowerment and advocacy.

Laughing for a Cure – A Comedy Benefit for Pink Ribbon Good

On Oct. 23, the Dayton Funny Bone is hosting the “Laughing for a Cure” event. The show starts 7:30 p.m. with admission starting at $20.

This night proves laughter really can heal. “Laughing for a Cure” brings together Dayton’s top comedians for a night of joy and generosity. With all proceeds supporting Pink Ribbon Good, a local nonprofit that provides free meals, transportation and peer support for those fighting breast and gynecological cancers.

Expect stand-up, raffles and a few surprises that turn this comedy show into something truly heartwarming.

Circle of Healing- Oncology Yoga Class

On Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Stoney Creek Garden Center in Yellow Springs, Ohio, certified Yoga4Cancer instructor and breast cancer survivor Maggie Kiedrowski is hosting the Circle of Healing. 

This class is designed specifically for those currently in treatment, and cleared by their health care provider to do yoga or exercise or those living with the side effects of cancer treatment. 

Cancer scars and changes people forever, it takes a heavy physical, emotional, and mental toll. Find healing in community with Oncology Yoga at the Yurt, tickets start at $30, so be sure to reserve your spot as spaces are limited.

Mt. Calvary Women’s Fighters & Survivors Brunch

For many, breast cancer awareness isn’t just a campaign, it is personal. The Mt. Calvary Women’s Fighters & Survivors Brunch is a warm, faith-filled gathering that honors that reality. Take time on Sunday, Oct. 26 from 1 – 3:30 p.m. to come out and support breast cancer survivors.

Held at the Marriott at the University of Dayton and hosted by the Mt. Calvary Women’s Ministry, the brunch creates a sacred space where women come together to share stories of perseverance, grief and hope.

Guests can expect inspiring testimonies from survivors, uplifting gospel music, a shared meal and moments of reflection and prayer. The event emphasizes sisterhood, healing and community care, reminding attendees that no one walks through recovery alone.

The atmosphere is both celebratory and reflective, turning faith and fellowship into powerful tools of healing. Whether you are a survivor, caregiver or supporter, the brunch offers a reminder that faith, food and friendship can truly restore the spirit.
