Find Your Community at the 2023 Student Spring Mixer Fair

Like many students, you may find yourself wanting to be social and be a part of some kind of community while you’re at Sinclair, but the idea may be daunting, and you may not know where to begin. Sinclair cares very much about community and recognizes the positive results from students who belong to a community on their campus. If you, like many others, don’t know where or how to start getting yourself plugged in to a social group at college, the upcoming Spring Mixer for student engagement will be a perfect place to start your journey to a stronger social life at Sinclair!

The 2023 Spring Mixer: Student Club & Organization Fair will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 28 from 11 a.m. through 1 p.m. It will be in the basement of Building 8 in the Stage Area at the Dayton campus. Student clubs and organizations of all diverse kinds will be there to promote their club or organization and to give you information about how you can join.

This will be a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded people who share similar interests and values with you. To name just a few of the student clubs at Sinclair, there are the TARTAN GAMERS, Sinclair Music Student Association (SMSA), Chi Alpha Campus Ministries (XA), African American Male Initiative (AAMI), and everyone’s favorite, The Clarion! (Or at least we hope that’s everyone’s favorite.) There will also be a popcorn bar, candy, games to participate in and more fun for every student.

The American motivational writer, William Arthur Ward wrote this famous poem to inspire individuals to come together as communities for the greater good called, Do More.

“Do more than belong: participate.

Do more than care: help.

Do more than believe: practice.

Do more than be fair: be kind.

Do more than forgive: forget.

Do more than dream: work.”

This empowering poem is a call to action to get outside of our comfort zone, to take the first step, and to find what is important in life. Being social doesn’t come naturally to many of us, but recognizing the importance of being involved in a community and being willing to step outside of our comfort zones is an amazing way to grow and learn more about what life has to offer.
