Some of the funniest movies available are not intended to make us fall on the floor laughing. A handful of horror flicks happen to fall into that category.

Around Halloween season, newspapers and magazines often put together lists of the scariest movies of all time. The Clarion did this last year, so we decided to put together a list of some of the funniest horror films ever assembled.

Criteria for this list include story, acting, dialogue and—most importantly—ridiculousness.

Jeepers Creepers5. “Jeepers Creepers”

I’m not going to lie. This movie was a little frightening when I first saw it. Revolving around a man-eating demon that is terrorizing a brother and sister who decide to travel through the wrong rural area, “Jeepers Creepers” offers a fair amount of scares.

I can’t help but laugh when I think of the Creeper waiting in line at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to get his license plate personalized to say “BEATNGU.”

House

4. “House”

This was one of those movies that only appear on cable at 2 a.m. A Vietnam War veteran and horror novelist moves into his recently deceased aunt’s home and he quickly discovers the spirits that possess the house.

Chuckles abound with scenes involving a possessed marlin, demons that resemble the blob that Chet turned into in “Weird Science” and George Wendt.

Leprechaun in the Hood3. “Leprechaun in the Hood”

Even in Compton, the Leprechaun can still hold it down.

For those who don’t know, the “Leprechaun” series is an awful collection of horror films based on a comical tiny leprechaun who begins murdering people over his lost gold.

Featuring Ice T and Coolio, the film is hilarious from the opening credits. Just make sure you sit through it because the Leprechaun spits rhymes like “Lep in the hood come to do no good” in the flick.

Night of The Lepus2. “Night of the Lepus”

Scared of ghosts and serial killers? That’s nothing compared to the horrifying creatures in “Night of the Lepus.”

Twelve years after her famous credit in “Psycho,” Janet Leigh stars in this laugher involving large man-eating rabbits.

As these mutant rabbits torment an Arizona town, the National Guard is called in to destroy the mass amount of adorable and overgrown bunnies.

Killer Klowns from Outer Space1. “Killer Klowns from Outer Space”

Popcorn guns, cocoons made of cotton candy and crazy straws. These three things can only mean “Killer Klowns from Outer Space.”

A group of extra-terrestrial clowns bring the circus to a small town and begin killing humans for thirst reasons.

According to the film, if a klown ever threatens you, go for the nose.
