As football season continues, there are a lot of games happening in Ohio sports from high school, to college, to the pros. With baseball starting to wrap up the regular season and football getting moving, here are some big games to watch in October.
One important high school football game is Chaminade Julienne (CJ) vs. Alter. This game is taking place on Oct. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at CJ, which is not even two minutes away from Sinclair’s main campus. There is a big rivalry between CJ and Alter in the Greater Catholic League which is the conference they are both in. The second high school football game is Troy vs. Butler which is also on Oct. 22 at 7:00 p.m. The game is at Butler’s home field in Vandalia.
There are two big games in October on the college level. The Ohio State Buckeyes are playing Penn State on Oct. 30. Ohio State will play some other big ten teams like Rutgers, Maryland, and Indiana, but Penn State is ranked the best and even higher than Ohio State. The second big game is the University of Cincinnati vs. Notre Dame on Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m.University of Cincinnati vs. Notre Dame on Oct. 2 at 2:30 p.m. These two teams are ranked above the Top 15, making this an important game for both teams.
The Cleveland Browns and the Cincinnati Bengals are the professional football teams in Ohio. Both play multiple games throughout the month of October, but they each play one game that is bigger than the rest.
The Cincinnati Bengals play the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m. This is a divisional game, making it an important game in case of a tie breaker at the end of the season.
The Cleveland Browns play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Oct. 31 at 1:00 p.m. Everyone who is a football fan knows that this is more than an average game. The rivalry between these two teams is probably one of the biggest rivalries in all of football.
Baseball is also a big part of Ohio sports this month. There are two teams in Ohio; the Cincinnati Reds and the Celevland Indians, soon to be the Guardians.
The Reds will play the Pirates in their last series of the season. This series will take place at the Pirates field in Pittsburgh from Oct 1 – 3. The main question around the Reds is whether or not they will make the playoffs or fall just short.
The Indians, on the other hand, will face the Rangers in their last series of the season. They are playing at the Rangers Field in Texas, also on Oct. 1 -3. The Indians aren’t predicted to make the playoffs.
This October could be a great month for Ohio sports if all of these games end with a win.
