For the first week of Fall Semester, Sinclair will be greeting new and returning students during Welcome Week. The first few days, volunteers will be greeting students with trail mix and campus maps to help students navigate the campus easily.
Students are encouraged to look for volunteers who are wearing red Welcome Week shirts. The volunteers will be posted at high traffic areas, such as the tunnels from the parking garages.
A few areas of the main campus will also be passing out free food.
On Monday, Aug. 27 from 7:30-10 a.m. free coffee and donuts will be provided outside of Building 7 and between Buildings 10 and 11. Later that day, free hotdogs will be passed out in those same areas from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Tuesday, Aug. 28 there will be a student worker job fair with more than 20 departments of Sinclair recruiting student workers for the Fall Semester in the Ponnie Kendall Center in Building 8.
Also on Tuesday, free hot dogs will also be passed out starting at 11 a.m. at the Huber Heights Learning Center and Courseview campus.
At the main campus on the Building 7 plaza on Wednesday, Aug. 29, the Welcome Week Happy 125 birthday celebration will be taking place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Activities for students will include a dunking booth, an inflatable obstacle course, a chance to get a henna tattoo or have their picture drawn by a caricature artist. There will also be a treasure hunt for students to visit various places and vendors around the campus.
In addition, the Office of Student Leadership and Development and Judicial Affairs (SLD) will be hosting their Welcome Back Carnival from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the area outside of Buildings 10 and 11 facing 3rd Street.
Karen Williams, specialist and advisor for SLD, said there will be numerous events that will stimulate

students’ interests including: a rock climbing mountain, the 3IN1 sports challenge, a competitive bungee run and a mechanical bull sponsored by Pepsi.
Williams also said that there will be a DJ to play music for students at a comfortable level and Aramark and other vendors will be selling food and drinks.
“I’m hoping this will be the largest event this year,” Williams said. “[We’re] going to be welcoming students back and letting them know we have various departments in student services you can go to for help. We want to get that information out and have some fun at the same time.”
Williams said she needs the help of volunteers for this event and students can sign up in the Student Leadership Office in Building 8025, or call her at 512-2934 for more information.
As Wednesday’s festivities continue, more free hot dogs will be served again at the Preble and Englewood learning centers starting at 11 a.m.
The Welcome Week festivities calm down on Thursday as the inflatables and the dunking booth will be gone. But Sinclair will turn into an open house at the main campus. The school hopes to increase chances for students to connect with offices, departments and organizations while exploring all that Sinclair has to offer. Various areas around campus may be providing free snacks for students as they traverse the college.
