A new month means a whole slew of releases to look forward to. This time its not just console gaming that’s making waves. From tabletop wargaming to a massive MMORPG expansion, below are the hottest games coming out in July.
1. Final Fantasy XIV Online: Dawntrail, July 2
“Dawntrail” is the latest expansion to make landfall in the highly popular game. Its millions strong player-base are going to have plenty of content to keep them busy for hundreds of hours. An entire continent and two classes are the tip of the iceberg for what the expansion delivers. If you’ve been on the fence now’s the time jump in and see what the hype is all about.
2. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Through Daybreak, July 5
Among RPG fans the “Trails” series has delivered one quality big release after another over the past few years. Its dedicationto real-time strategy and deep mechanics has kept the franchise in tip-top form since its inception in the 80s. Reviews for the latest game in the series have been highly positive.
3. Magic the Gathering-Assassin’s Creed, July 5
Wizards of the Coast last couple of collaborations have been real homeruns for the company. Warhammer 40k, Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, and Fallout have been hits for the company. That trend looks to continue with its new Assassin’s Creed set. It features some incredible depictions of iconic characters like Ezio Auditore and Altair ibn La Ahad as well as some interesting new mechanics worth trying out with friends.
4. Warhammer: Age of Sigmar 4th Edition, July 13
A new edition of one of the most popular miniature games in the world means loads of new models, lore, and battles for gamers to sink their teeth into. For its fourth edition, Age of Sigmar is kicking things off with a bang as the nefarious Skaven return with a slew of new minis ready to usher in the Vermindoom. Its going to be a clash for the ages when they square up against the grimmest looking Stormcast Eternals we’ve seen. Expect loads of new twists and turns in the tabletop games ever-evolving story. And lots of new plastic to keep players busy for ages.
5. Flintlock: Siege of Dawn, July 18
The hype-train has been rolling since the game’s first trailer came out. Being compared to “Elden Ring” and “Remnant” is certainly good news for A44 Games but only time will tell if it lives up to expectations. The New Zealand-based studio have one other major title to their name, 2018’s well-received Ashen. Flintlock: Siege of Dawn seems to have had plenty of time to cook and should give gamers a new soulslike to explore when it hits shelves later this month.
