Sinclair Community College offers students the opportunity to compete in sports at an intramural level.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe goal for the student is to develop an official life-long skills, not only as a team player, but also as an individual player,\u201d Professor in Physical Education Nila Peavy said.<\/p>\n
Every student is welcome to attend and play each Monday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
Peavy said between 11 a.m. to noon, the students play basketball and between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., the students play soccer, although they are considering playing flag football instead.<\/p>\n
\u201cSoccer is very slow, we only had like one person,\u201d Peavy said. \u201cSo we\u2019re thinking about switching and doing flag football just to see; we\u2019re in the process of making sure we have all the equipment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students wishing to play who are not currently enrolled in a physical activity class must pay $5 to play, which can be paid in the equipment room, located in Building 8, Room 017; students who are currently enrolled in a physical activity class are not required to pay the fee.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight now we don\u2019t have leagues like in a regular intramural program, we\u2019re hoping that participation increases, that way we can form teams and we\u2019ll have like leagues so they compete against each other,\u201d Peavy said.<\/p>\n
To play basketball, show up in the gymnasium in Building 8. To play soccer, show up in the field house with your Tartan card, as it will be swiped to be sure the fee was paid and to track attendance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe wanted to provide the students activities that will help them with [the development of physical fitness],\u201d she said. \u201cAnd then that also will promote interest and participation in recreational sports; so give an opportunity to get involved and do some physical activity and [the opportunity] to compete.\u201d<\/p>\n
Participants can also receive a t-shirt.<\/p>\n
