Gwendolyn Jones serves on multiple committees, from the Dayton Dialogue on Race Relations, to the Ohio Fellows Advisory; she has more than 43 years\u2019 experience working in education. At Sinclair Community College, she serves as the Chief Diversity Officer, a wide-ranging position that deals with different programs, policies and the hiring of faculty and staff. She was Sinclair\u2019s first Ombudsman and currently a Sinclair Change Agent. She will present a Sinclair Talks session on Friday, Nov. 1 entitled, \u201cThe Power of Your Intentions,\u201d which deals with how to stay motivated and achieve goals.
\n\u201cThe power of intentions is really about who are you and how are you looking at the world \u2026 if you change the way you\u2019re looking at it and the way that you see yourself in it then things will happen,\u201d Jones said.
\n\u201cThe Power of Your Intentions\u201d is meant to encourage and promotes positive change in people\u2019s lives.
\nThe Talk is open the general public. Jones welcomes any students, faculty and staff to attend. \u201cIt\u2019s a message that resonates with everybody,\u201d she said.
\nShe encourages \u201canyone who is currently actively pursuing a career or changes in their lives or wanting to have better relationships\u201d to attend.
\nIn 43 years of experience, Jones considers her greatest achievement to be the positive effect she has had on students\u2019 lives. She puts a lot of stress on the power of thoughts and the impact of words.
\n\u201cIntentions become actualities,\u201d she said.
\nJones said the main point of her Sinclair Talk will be to \u201cstay focused on your intentions.\u201d According to Sinclair\u2019s website, the goal of Sinclair Talks is \u201cto broaden knowledge and engage students in discussion of various issues on and off campus.\u201d
