Every month, there are over a billion active Facebook users, making it seem almost impossible for someone not to have a Facebook account.<\/p>\n

However, for Hospitality major John Bolton, this is just the case.<\/p>\n

He has been without a Facebook account for about a year and a half.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t like the social media idea behind it and how everybody always had to be posting. Like, whether they\u2019re going to the grocery store or they\u2019re going to pick up something dumb. I don\u2019t really need to know that,\u201d Bolton said. \u201cOn top of that, it created drama with relationships.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said he created a Facebook account his junior year of high school and stayed active for a few years, then deleted it for six months, only to become an active user again, just to later delete his account for good.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s kind of the reason why I got rid of it,\u201d he said. \u201cI didn\u2019t like creating the drama.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bolton said he knows enough people in person and doesn\u2019t feel the need to have a lot of friends on Facebook.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do I have to have a competition in having so many friends [on Facebook], when I don\u2019t even talk to them? When I have my closest friends right here in my pocket, in my cell phone,\u201d he said. \u201cAll I have is a cell phone that calls and texts. I don\u2019t have the internet on it or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

With over a billion monthly active Facebook users, it may seem far-fetched that someone doesn\u2019t partake in \u201cFacebooking,\u201d so the Clarion asks, \u201cwho else doesn\u2019t have a Facebook account and why not?\u201d<\/p>\n
