{"id":76,"date":"2008-09-19T11:15:26","date_gmt":"2008-09-19T18:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/?p=76"},"modified":"2017-06-16T11:41:09","modified_gmt":"2017-06-16T16:41:09","slug":"sinclair-volleyball-unplugs-the-chargers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/tartan-news\/2008\/09\/19\/sinclair-volleyball-unplugs-the-chargers\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinclair volleyball unplugs the Chargers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sinclair Tartan Pride women\u2019s volleyball team took care of the Edison State Chargers on Sept. 17 in straight sets: 28-26, 25-21, 25-22.<\/p>\n<p>In the first game of the night, Sinclair and Edison State went back and forth as the other attempted to win game one of the best-of-five series.\u00a0 The Chargers built a 15-11 lead until the Tartan Pride came back with four consecutive points to tie the game.\u00a0 From that point, there were 6 lead changes until Sinclair scored three straight points to win the match at 28-26.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The second game stayed close until the Sinclair women opened the game up with a 22-18 lead that would not be lost.<\/p>\n<p>Game three saw the Tartan Pride start out slow. Edison State took advantage by staking a 9-5 lead.\u00a0 But Sinclair bounced back and finished strong to win the third game 25-22 to complete the sweep.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Brittney Wilburn led the way for the Tartan Pride with 11 kills while sophomores Lindsey Bruns and Rebecca Scheer committed 7 kills of their own.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt they should have played better,\u201d said Sinclair volleyball coach K.C. Gan.\u00a0 \u201cWe need to play better defense.\u00a0 But, I\u2019m happy with the win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Jessica McCann led the team in digs with 19 and Wilburn chipped in 13 digs of her own.\u00a0 Sophomore Shannon Wade had all 24 of the team\u2019s assists.<\/p>\n<p>The Sinclair women up their record to 5-5 overall and improve their conference record to 1-1 with the win over the Chargers.\u00a0 Edison State fell to 2-9 overall with a conference record of 0-2.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong>Women\u2019s Volleyball Remaining Home Games<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">10\/3 \u2013 6 p.m. \u2013 Lakeland C.C.<br \/>\n10\/4 \u2013 1:30 p.m. \u2013 Cuyahoga C.C.<br \/>\n10\/7 \u2013 6 p.m. \u2013 Taylor U. at Ft.
