It has been a grueling quarter for some students at Sinclair. The weather has been up and down. We have seen more rainy days than sunny days.\u00a0 It even touched 40 degrees once!<\/p>\n
That said, we\u2019re inching closer and closer to being done.\u00a0 Not just the Clarion, but everyone!<\/p>\n
We are close\u2013can you touch the finish line?\u2013but we are not finished yet.\u00a0 As the horse racing announcers like to say, \u201cdown the stretch they come!\u201d\u00a0 It applies to us, too!<\/p>\n
The time has come for us to knuckle down and succeed in these last few weeks.\u00a0 It takes more than just words, though.<\/p>\n
To really succeed we need to each envision success and lay claim to it. Too often, we get a grade we don\u2019t like and we find ourselves giving up.<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t give up.\u00a0 Instead, envision yourself getting the grade you want. Envision yourself obtaining your goals.<\/p>\n
Then, study!\u00a0 Do the work!<\/p>\n
It\u2019s called the self-fulfilling prophecy, and we believe in it wholeheartedly. It goes something like this\u2013you are what you think you are. If you envision failure, then you will fail and the same goes for success.<\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t believe you can do it, then you won\u2019t.\u00a0 If you believe in yourself and do the work, you aren\u2019t guaranteed of anything, but your odds just went way up!<\/p>\n
There are a few more weeks until the end of the quarter.\u00a0 Defeat and laziness should never cross your mind.<\/p>\n
Instead, work hard for what you want. Study harder for the physics or math test. Realize that you must want to succeed because nobody is going to do it for you.<\/p>\n
Life has a way of throwing us curveballs.\u00a0 It can knock us down to rock bottom and force us to make the necessary changes.\u00a0 You have to take everything in stride, though.<\/p>\n
As Jay-Z would say, \u201cBrush the dirt off your shoulder\u2026\u201d Brush defeat off your shoulder!<\/p>\n
Take defeat and throw it out the window, throw it in the trash. Let defeat know that it will not rule over the end\u00a0 of the quarter and that you will succeed. Easier said than done, we know!<\/p>\n
These moments of stress and struggle are the building blocks for life.\u00a0 This is the real world!\u00a0 Do you think it gets easier once you have a piece of paper with your name on it\u00a0 hung on your wall?<\/p>\n
Let us spoil that one.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t get easier.\u00a0 This is only the beginning.<\/p>\n
