Sinclair Community College\u2019s Automotive Department is hosting a cruise-in on Saturday, May 21 from 1-4 p.m. in the parking lot of Building 20.<\/p>\n
Justin Morgan, assistant professor of Automotive Technology at Sinclair, said the event was a team effort put together by faculty and students in the Automotive Department.\u00a0 There will be music, free food, and giveaways, including cases of oil, cleaning supplies, and other maintenance products donated by local auto supply retailers; a die cast Dodge Challenger model; and two $300 book scholarships for fall quarter.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is sort of our inaugural event,\u201d Morgan said. \u201cBut we\u2019re going to try to do it every year from now on.\u00a0 We have a lot of ideas for the future, but we\u2019re trying to keep it a little low-key this year, just to see how things go.\u201d<\/p>\n
The event is free and open to the public, according to Morgan, who says that any and all students with hot rods or other custom vehicles are welcome to participate, as well as those who just want to come, look around, and have a shot at winning a few prizes.<\/p>\n
Tours of the automotive facility will also be available, and Morgan hopes the event will help create interest in the automotive program among Sinclair students, as well as tech prep students at the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) and elsewhere.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe know there are a lot of students who are into cars, but who aren\u2019t necessarily in the Automotive Program,\u201d said Morgan.\u00a0 \u201cSo hopefully this event will help show off some of what our department has to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n
If this year\u2019s event goes well, future cruise-ins may include judged awards and free auto inspections for attendees.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
