The first is the people directory. With that, students can look up phone numbers and email addresses for staff and faculty at the school. Little said someone can search with the person’s name or by using a department name, such as “bursar” or “Chinese.”

The news, events and calendar links feature the information found on campus news and the calendar from the main website, according to Little.

Another feature Little mentioned was Sinclair notices, which will inform students of inclement weather delays or closings, plus information about ANGEL outages or maintenance periods.

The mobile website also has a schedule planner.

“That allows students to search for classes,” Little said. With that, students can find the section
number, the books (and Sinclair’s price for the books), the days, times, location and instructor for the class (if available) and the number of credit hours.

A feature that might be new to some students is the program viewer. Little said students can look up information on any academic program offered at Sinclair, including a list of every class required for completion. From that page, students can then find the information on each specific course.

Some links have a small padlock on them. Those links require students to login with their
my.sinclair.edu information to access. It is also a secure link, according to Little.

There is also a link available for students to report issues to the Help Desk. Little also said that
students can email concerns or suggestions for the mobile website to websystems@sinclair.edu.

Little said Sinclair surveyed students for what they would want in a mobile website, and the “number one response was a schedule.” The second was the directory.

“It was in development for a while, off and on,” Little said.

A map and other features, including potentially a tool that would let students find open computers at any lab on campus, are in development, but no timetable was given.

Sinclair Community College has recently debuted a mobile version of the www.sinclair.edu website, and it can be reached at m.sinclair.edu, according to Russ Little, manager of Web Systems.
