By the time you read this, your instructors might have already mentioned the dreaded word \u201cfinals\u201d to you.\u00a0 Winter quarter ends March 20, so we\u2019re getting awful close.
\nTo some of you, this will be obvious.\u00a0 But to others, maybe not.\u00a0 But we feel it\u2019s our job to inform you of things that are important, or easily forgotten, or interesting, or moving.
\nSo, here it is: study for your finals.
\nImagine this.\u00a0 You spend all quarter working hard but some grades don\u2019t go your way.\u00a0 You need a 70 percent to get credit for the class, and a good grade on the final exam will mean you pass.\u00a0 But, you decide instead to go party and don\u2019t study in earnest until the night before.\u00a0 You come into class, take the exam, struggle, and leave hoping that the questions you guessed on will turn out to be right.
\nUnfortunately, lady luck leaves you at the altar and you get a whopping 53 percent on the exam.\u00a0 You fail the class and need to take it again.\u00a0 But, because it\u2019s so late in the registration period, the class you need (at the time that works with your schedule) is already full, so you have to wait until fall.
\nFor you freshman out there, that\u2019s not a crippling error, although it does mean you are paying twice for a class.\u00a0 That\u2019ll hurt the wallet.\u00a0 But for the students so very close to a degree, that does hurt, and it hurts badly.\u00a0 It could mean you don\u2019t get a degree until fall, which could affect transfers or your resume out on the job market.
\nNot a good situation at all.
\nBut, all of that can be avoided.\u00a0 Take your finals seriously and study.\u00a0 If you need help, visit www.sinclair.edu\/support\/tutor or visit the Tutorial Services office in the Library, Room L07.\u00a0 Or, if you are a math or physics major, those respective labs can be of assistance.
\nAsk your teacher where you can find help, too.\u00a0 Most teachers we\u2019ve had are eager to help students succeed.
\nDon\u2019t be afraid to ask.\u00a0 Don\u2019t be too lazy to head down to the library to find a tutor.\u00a0 Finals are important.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
