From Feb. 1 through the 13, www.yourtango.com is encouraging people to \u201cun-digitaltize\u201d themselves from their exes by unfriending them on Facebook, Twitter or any other social network, and deleting pictures, email addresses and any other digital communication with them.\u00a0 They are officially naming Feb. 13 the annual \u201cBreak-Up With Your Ex Day.\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s one way to pop the floating hearts in the air.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s be honest though, for those of us who are not in relationships, how many of you are still creeping that certain someone\u2019s Facebook page just to see what they are up to?<\/p>\n
Don\u2019t raise your hands all at once.<\/p>\n
According to a survey done by the site, out of 1,000 people, \u201c71 percent said they think about their ex too much and 48 percent (including 42 percent of married people) said they look at their ex’s Facebook or other social networking profile too often.\u201d<\/p>\n
See, you\u2019re not alone.<\/p>\n
It seems that it\u2019s safe to say that while the digital world has helped us tremendously in being able to communicate more efficiently and more often, it has also posed the problem of letting go of the people we really don\u2019t need in our life.<\/p>\n
Break-ups are hard enough and they are just that more antagonizing when we have the ability to see just how happy that other person is without us.<\/p>\n
But we do have the power to stop that vicious cycle. Take back your pride, dignity and time, and put an end to restless nights of wondering what your ex is doing \u2013 delete these people from your life.<\/p>\n
All of them. It doesn\u2019t have to just be an ex or an old crush who broke your heart; what about that friend who maliciously stabbed you in the back? Delete.<\/p>\n
Get your life back. It is yours.<\/p>\n
They do say that once you close a door it just makes room for another one to open.<\/p>\n
