{"id":5929,"date":"2011-01-24T12:00:43","date_gmt":"2011-01-24T17:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/?p=5929"},"modified":"2014-05-20T13:24:11","modified_gmt":"2014-05-20T18:24:11","slug":"white-out-wednesday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/tartan-news\/2011\/01\/24\/white-out-wednesday\/","title":{"rendered":"White Out Wednesday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Jan. 26, during the Sinclair Community College men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball games, the Athletic Department is holding a \u201cWhite Out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The games, versus Cincinnati State Community College, start at 5:30 for the women and 7:30 for the men.<\/p>\n<p>According to Athletic Director Jack Giambrone, anyone attending the games should wear a white T-shirt.\u00a0 Anyone wearing white will be entered into a drawing for an opportunity to take a half-court shot for free books or a month-long parking pass.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited for this.\u00a0 We do it for our students,\u201d Giambrone said.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a way of saying thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also, during the half time of the men\u2019s game, Aramark will be providing free pizza to anyone in attendance, and, Pepsi will be handing out their Mountain Dew White Out beverages for free.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the pizza and Mountain Dew, Food Services General Manager Tim Sweet said they will be selling alcohol.\u00a0 As of Jan. 20, Sweet said they will be selling Bud Light in plastic bottles for $4 a piece.\u00a0 Anyone who wants to buy one must have an I.D. and there is a limit of two per person.<\/p>\n<p>Giambrone said the gym holds 1,200 people, and he wants it full for both games.\u00a0 He also said he\u2019d like to see a new attendance record set in the gym.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you watch Duke play, the crowd there is phenomenal,\u201d Giambrone said.\u00a0 \u201cWe want students, staff and faculty to create that sort of environment here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Sinclair pep band will be playing\u2014which Giambrone said he is excited about\u2014along with the Wayne High School pep band during the two games.<\/p>\n<p>Giambrone also said they will be handing out white head bands and hope to petition the Guinness World Records organization to set a new record for most people wearing white head bands at an event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no excuse not to come.\u00a0 Do your homework before the game or after it,\u201d Giambrone said.\u00a0 \u201cBring your children.\u00a0 If you show your tartan card, you get in free.\u00a0 \u201cThere\u2019s just no reason we shouldn\u2019t have a 1,000 people in that gym.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The first white-out was four years ago, and Giambrone called it a success.\u00a0 That game brought over 800 people into the stands.<\/p>\n<p>The second and third white-out games were canceled because of snow, according to Giambrone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Jan. 26, during the Sinclair Community College men\u2019s and women\u2019s basketball games, the Athletic Department is holding a \u201cWhite Out.\u201d The games, versus Cincinnati State Community College, start at 5:30 for the women and 7:30 for the men.
