Carla Rhoades, the director of the Early Childhood Education Centers wants people to know that they are available and here to help parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re here for people who think \u2018What am I going to do with my child while I\u2019m at school or work?\u2019\u201d Rhoades said.<\/p>\n
The Early Childcare Education Centers are located on the first floor of Building 9 Room 101 and are open to students, faculty, staff and the community to provide childcare for children between 3-5 years of age. You can contact them at (937) 512-2234.<\/p>\n
There are two different learning centers; the Early Learning Center that provides childcare all day and children must be in the center by 9:30 a.m. The Flex-Time Learning Center is for short term stays during the day. Both centers are open from 6:30 a.m-9 p.m. The prices vary between the two centers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also take title 20 for any family who may need help with paying their fees,\u201d Rhoades said.<\/p>\n
An accredited center by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, it just received a 2-star step up to quality rating from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very big award for our center because they review everything that we do,\u201d Rhoades said. \u201cThey look at our policies, procedures, lesson plans and everything else. It\u2019s a great honor and we are very proud.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rhoades wants people to know that their child will be in a quality educational environment while enrolled here.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile the child is here we help them with self-confidence, problem solving and communication skills, among other things,\u201d Rhoades said. \u201cWe want to help the child build a good base to become a well rounded person in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
The center also does different things to help the children grow and keep their interest.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have brought the Dayton Philharmonic String Quartet to the center so they can play for the children,\u201d Rhoades said. \u201cWe also had an RTA take the children around the block, each child was given a token so they could get on the bus and small steering wheels so they could simulate driving.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the future the center would like to use more of the resources that are available on campus to help keep the children cultured.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause this is a college there are so many different resources that we could tap into,\u201d Rhoades said. \u201cThe music, arts and culinary departments are just a few departments that would be nice to work with, I just want to use every option we have to help our children learn and grow.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rhoades said the Early Childcare Education Centers is doing everything it can to provide children with the best environment possible.<\/p>\n
