Thank goodness that\u2019s finally over, that time of the year when the leaves die, the air gets cold and we as television viewers got bombed with campaign advertisements.<\/p>\n
Those ads have such poignant thoughts.\u00a0 \u201cWhy won\u2019t John Kasich release his tax return?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cTime\u2019s up, Ted!\u201d\u00a0 \u201cFred Strahorn voted for health care reform!\u201d<\/p>\n
Those in control of the ads would like you to kindly ignore context, because, well, context is for those interested in the truth, and the truth can get in the way of the narrative.\u00a0 Ask MSNBC or Fox News, they deal with this constantly.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s really the issue with politics, no?\u00a0 Truth is irrelevant.\u00a0 It\u2019s how they spin things.\u00a0 Yes, this new legislation will cost Lady Liberty an arm and a leg, but it\u2019ll do this and this and if those two things aren\u2019t done maybe you\u2019ll die or be poor or whatever other potential calamity might frighten us into votes or complacency.<\/p>\n
Fear works.\u00a0 Fox tells you that if you don\u2019t watch Fox you won\u2019t know about the next thing that will kill you.\u00a0 MSNBC tells you if you watch Fox you\u2019ll be a bigot.\u00a0 Democrats tell you the Republicans hate poor people.\u00a0 Republicans tell you that Democrats are Marxist and want to steal your money.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s all about the message.\u00a0 We\u2019re not sure if President Obama has a done a good job or not, because the only commentary available is either unabashed love or unrestricted criticism.\u00a0 That doesn\u2019t work.<\/p>\n
Just the facts, please!\u00a0 We\u2019re literally begging you.<\/p>\n
When a comedian with a show on Comedy Central is maybe the fairest voice in political commentary, something is wrong.\u00a0 Actually, no, something is probably on fire.<\/p>\n
We\u2019re just tired.\u00a0 Tired of all of it.\u00a0 Nothing is honest, nothing is sincere.\u00a0 Everything has to be a game.\u00a0 A game for votes, a game for support, a game to energize the so-called base.\u00a0 We hope that Jon Stewart is right and that most people don\u2019t belong to this insanity.<\/p>\n
