He said the show will be hosted from his Uncle’s clothing store “The Neighborhood Store” and will feature behind the scenes music videos, local artists, poets, musicians, models and aspiring actors.

“It’s just exposure, nothing specific. It’s the first season so I’m sure by the second season I will have a little bit more behind it. My groups have opened up for a few Grammy nominated artists and all of that footage will on there,” Johnson said. “I will be showing the segments and also bringing in guests to sit and talk about their projects. I’m all about exposing the positive in people.”

An exact date has not yet been set but Johnson said it is expected to run in the next couple months. The show will be aired on DATV, Channel 5. The company Johnson started is called “Royce ‘Tha Prince’ Literature. Its tagline is “…it’s bigger than storytelling…” which Johnson said, means that his writing is all about real life experiences and staying away from fantasy tales.

“I enjoy working with everybody. Everybody brings a different element,” Johnson said. “I guess that’s why our group is so well put together. They have their own personalities and they love working with each other.”

Over the summer, Johnson filmed an opening act by Grand Time Central (GTC) for Gucci Mane. GTC has a single out called “Grind til’ I get it” which Johnson said is one of the mottos behind his company.

“Working hard until we get to where we want to be,” Johnson said. “I like to throw in there, ‘preparation plus opportunity equals success.’ That’s definitely a motto I live by.”

Considering himself a humble person who puts others needs before his wants, Johnson said his job fits him perfectly because everything he does is behind the scenes. He said none of it would have been possible though without the support of his team.

“It’s a tough job starting off. Luckily my team around me supports me. We are all putting in to pay for a camera,” Johnson said. “It’s coming together pretty well though. Every two weeks is another date, another performance.”

Johnson, born and raised in Dayton, said he has always dreamed about being a film director and is working hard to make those dreams a reality. If they don’t work out though, his next choice would be to teach.

“I’ve always been a dream chaser. When I was younger I had trouble sleeping and

I would think of random scenarios in my head and then put them together; and it was a movie,” Johnson said. “My ultimate dream is really just to help my family, as well as set a positive influence for the youth. I think that’s very important.”

One of his other goals is to start help mentoring and tutoring children. From about the fourth grade on are detrimental years that decide whether someone will go down the wrong path and he wants to help prevent that from happening, he said.

“Teach them communication,” Johnson said.” If you can’t communicate with them then there’s almost no hope for helping them; and a lot of the times it’s listening more than talking.”

He said that the sky is the limit for his company though and he’s excited about the direction it’s going in. One of the teams Johnson collaborates with and will be featured on the show is #1913 and he said the story behind their name says it all.

“#1913 was the year the great flood hit the Miami Valley. And that’s our plan – to flood the area, the state and the country with great music and talent,” he said.

To learn more about Johnson and his work check out his website at www.thaflyyprince.blogspot.com, or follow him on twitter @thaprince1213.

A new local TV show that will be exposing talent from the dayton area called “Royce ‘Tha Prince’ TV” has been written, edited and produced by one of Sinclair Community College’s students, Royce Johnson.
