{"id":5721,"date":"2010-11-02T09:44:05","date_gmt":"2010-11-02T14:44:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/?p=5721"},"modified":"2010-11-02T09:44:05","modified_gmt":"2010-11-02T14:44:05","slug":"sinclair-women%e2%80%99s-basketball-set-for-an-exciting-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/tartan-news\/2010\/11\/02\/sinclair-women%e2%80%99s-basketball-set-for-an-exciting-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinclair women\u2019s basketball set for an exciting season."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2010-2011 Sinclair Community College women\u2019s basketball team is looking to build on last year\u2019s success and ready to have an exciting season.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s team has five returning sophomores to go along with two sophomore transfers and incoming freshman.<\/p>\n<p>Head Coach Jeff Dillon, who is in his eight season coaching at Sinclair, says he believes this year\u2019s team has the potential to do great things.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a very deep team, all of our players our talented,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cI believe we can play ten deep in our rotation and be successful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coach Dillon believes that Sinclair can cause matchup problems on offense for other teams they are facing because of their versatility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to play up tempo and get down the floor,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cWe may not have a lot of size but we\u2019re a very quick team and we will use that to our advantage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dillon sees his team sometimes playing four perimeter players and one in the post to take advantage of their good shooting and spread out the other team\u2019s defense.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI like to run the dribble drive offense as well, our players can drive to the hole and if the shot is not there then kick it out to one of our good shooters,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cBut we will also stay involved in the post; we just want high percentage shots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On defense, Dillon wants his team to press on made baskets and keep the pressure on the other team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re going to try and force other teams into mistakes,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cIf we stay disciplined in our pressure we should force turnovers which can lead to easy points.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dillon said there is a great team chemistry, and believes they will respond well against adversity over the season.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s team is following up on a season in which Sinclair beat Owens Community College, the second ranked team in the nation at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe made it too the second round of the region tournament before losing to Grand Rapids CC who made it to the tournament final,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cWith the experience our returning players have, they can help lead and guide our team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One thing Dillon said was important is that Sinclair comes out and supports the sports teams.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen people come out to support, it gives us a huge boost,\u201d Dillon said. \u201cIt\u2019s nice to have a home court advantage.
