The Student Leadership Association is hosting two events at the end of this month for students.<\/p>\n
The first is Harvest Day, on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 12-2 p.m. in the basement of Building 8\u2019s stage area.<\/p>\n
The event will feature free pizza, apple cider, candy corn, caramel apples and a corn hole game, according to SLA student workers Angel Jackson and Kolita Hollins.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere will be a food table and a SLA table,\u201d Jackson said.\u00a0 \u201cWe\u2019re having drawings for students to win candy jars.\u00a0 Everything\u2019s going to be free.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jackson said that the only thing students need to bring is themselves.<\/p>\n
The following day SLA is hosting the Celebrate the 70\u2019s event, from 11-2 p.m., also in the basement of Building 8\u2019s stage area.\u00a0 The event will feature music, a slideshow and a soul train line.\u00a0 Jackson said people will be dancing.<\/p>\n
\u201cHarvest Day is more about fall and eating food,\u201d Jackson said.\u00a0 \u201cCelebrate the 70\u2019s is more about getting into the whole dressing up thing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students are encouraged to dress up for the event.\u00a0 Prizes will be given out for the three best dressed.\u00a0 Hollins said she wants to keep the prizes a surprise until the event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want students to show their 70\u2019s spirit,\u201d Jackson said.\u00a0 \u201cGet a little crazy.\u00a0 Be as 70\u2019s as you can with what you wear.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the past, SLA hasn\u2019t had events on back-to-back days, but Jackson said in an effort to have more events for students, they started having them that way.\u00a0 Although some weeks might not have any events, others could have two.<\/p>\n
Both events will have decorations, even though Jackson and Hollins said they don\u2019t always have things completely planned out.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe just kind of go with the flow,\u201d Jackson said.\u00a0 \u201cBut we\u2019re decorating for both.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students can expect to see a lot of orange and yellow decorations at Harvest Day, according to Hollins.<\/p>\n
SLA decided to use a harvest theme as opposed to Halloween because of religious concerns.\u00a0 Hollins said they didn\u2019t want to offend anyone, and that Harvest Day was timely as well.<\/p>\n
Jackson said the events are for everyone, and anyone can be involved.<\/p>\n
