{"id":35668,"date":"2023-02-12T19:19:15","date_gmt":"2023-02-13T00:19:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/?p=35668"},"modified":"2023-02-12T19:19:17","modified_gmt":"2023-02-13T00:19:17","slug":"sinclair-theatre-to-present-production-of-jackie-robinson-steals-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/tartan-news\/2023\/02\/12\/sinclair-theatre-to-present-production-of-jackie-robinson-steals-home\/","title":{"rendered":"Sinclair Theatre to Present Production of \u201cJackie Robinson Steals Home\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As part of its celebration of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/tartan-news\/2022\/04\/06\/black-history-month-at-sinclair\/\">Black History Month<\/a> and the Free Expressions Series, Sinclair will be<br>putting on two free performances of Peter Manos\u2019s one-act play \u201cJackie Robinson Steals<br>Home.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the production takes place over a single day in <a href=\"https:\/\/jackierobinson.com\/\">Jackie Robinson\u2019s life<\/a>, audience members<br>will get to see several flashbacks and learn more about the renowned baseball player.<br>Costume designer Kamryn Wise says that while there is a \u201clot of back and forth\u201d within the<br>course of the play, there is also insight into \u201chow he got to where he was.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6XY-XshGhMU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Wise is a theatre technology major at Sinclair. This production is her first as a costume designer<br>and has been a learning experience for her. She recalls the difficulty of scheduling fittings with<br>the cast members, planning and balancing several quick changes, and simply navigating the<br>role. Despite these challenges, Wise has learned a number of important skills, including keeping<br>track of finances for the department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about the significance of costuming to the production, Wise stated that she<br>thought costumes were an integral part of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey tell the time period,\u201d she said, adding that the costumes also give details about the<br>characters\u2019 occupations and social classes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surprisingly for some, Wise found Jackie Robinson\u2019s costume to be the easiest to put together,<br>seeing as a Dodgers jersey was a main component.
