These talks are also being broadcasted on Zoom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sinclair Talks are open to the public and cover a myriad of topics. Local personalities and historians share their findings and opinions, and student clubs and organizations can use this forum to inform the campus at large of their activities. Attendees use these talks to learn more about what the college offers and students use them to share their passions, knowledge, and opinions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are four more talks this spring term, happening in the stage area in Building 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Emotional Intelligence \u2013 What is it and is it really that important?<\/strong><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by: Lindsay Tate,&nbsp;<em>Sinclair Workplace Development<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, March 3 from 1-2 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>    2. <strong>Moral Leadership for a Divided Age \u2013 Two Modern Examples<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by: Larry Lindstrom,&nbsp;<em>Multifaith Campus Ministry<\/em>, and Thomas Roberts,&nbsp;<em>Sinclair Ohio Fellows Program<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to noon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>    3. <strong>What Did You Say?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by: Amy Hartman,&nbsp;<em>Ombudsman<\/em>, and Kelly Smith,&nbsp;<em>Assistant Professor of Communication<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, April 7 from noon to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>    4. <strong>Green Dot &#8211; Changing Campus Culture One Dot at a Time<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by: Matt Massie,&nbsp;<em>Manager of Student and Community Engagement<\/em>&nbsp;&amp; Andrew Owens<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday, April 13, from 1:30-2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The northwest Loggia on the Library\u2019s 2nd floor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>   5. <strong>Understanding the Nature of Eco-Leadership<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by: Thomas Roberts,&nbsp;<em>Sinclair Ohio Fellows<\/em>&nbsp;<em>Program,&nbsp;<\/em>and former Ohio state senator<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, April 21 from noon to 1 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this term, Sinclair College Career Development and local employers headed the\u00a0Internship 101 &amp; Employer Panel,\u00a0and the Military Family Education Center at Sinclair discussed\u00a0Military Service &amp; the Impact on Military Families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>    6. <strong>The Significance of Being Non-Judgmental<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Presented by: AzReail Essick, Sinclair student<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday, April 25, from 12-12:20 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Building 8, Stage Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crystal Ford Bingle, the Coordinator of Community Engagement at Sinclair, organizes and schedules Sinclair Talks. Students, staff, faculty, and community members can submit proposals to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinclair.edu\/student-life\/sce\/\">Student and Community Engagement<\/a>. Talks often take the form of a presentation, panel discussion, or workshop. According to Bingle, they will begin accepting proposals for the fall term halfway through this term in March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next talk is a workshop on emotional intelligence. Lindsay Tate from Sinclair Workforce Development will facilitate. Emotional intelligence is often compared and contrasted with IQ. It involves elements of empathy and emotional control. Those with high emotional intelligence can use it to successfully manage their emotions in a way that helps them communicate more effectively.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By working on our emotional intelligence, we can see growth in our lives and our careers. In a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.careerbuilder.ca\/share\/aboutus\/pressreleasesdetail.aspx?id=pr652&amp;sd=8%2F18%2F2011&amp;ed=8%2F18%2F2099\">survey<\/a>&nbsp;of over 2600 human resources professionals, 71% valued emotional intelligence more than IQ in an employee. 75% preferred promoting someone with high emotional intelligence over someone with a high IQ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI want [people] to understand what emotional intelligence is,\u201d Tate says. \u201cIt is not fixed.
