The Sinclair Lady Pride has their eyes on returning to prominence in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC). With four players returning from last year\u2019s squad\u2014the Lady Pride finished with a 11-13 record, according to OCCAC.org\u2014including guards Jana Gross and Chelcie Gullett and a talented group of incoming freshmen, Head Coach Jeff Dillon has high expectations for the Lady Pride this season.<\/p>\n
Lack of chemistry<\/strong><\/p>\n Though last year\u2019s team faced a bevy of injuries, there was also a lack of team cohesion, according to Gross.<\/p>\n \u201cLast year we started off kind of slow and it wasn\u2019t much of a team,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n \u201cWe didn\u2019t (have any chemistry),\u201d added Gullet. \u201cThere was people (who) just didn\u2019t like each other and that affected the way we played.\u201d<\/p>\n Both guards suggest the Lady Pride, who has been working together since this summer, won\u2019t have those issues this year.<\/p>\n \u201cI think that (the new players) are coming in with the right mindset, but I hope they can keep it up for the rest of the year,\u201d Gullett said.<\/p>\n Quickness and depth will be key<\/strong><\/p>\n Dillon said that this team may be the deepest he has had in seven years.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd probably the quickest,\u201d he said. \u201cThey play really intense.\u201d<\/p>\n The Lady Pride also have brains to go with their speed, according to Dillon.<\/p>\n \u201cThe learning curve has been really quick,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n Gross agreed with Dillon\u2019s sentiment.<\/p>\n \u201cIf we (work on) a play once or twice, (the team) catches on,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Gross thinks the team will have to improve their execution. Dillon sees their lack of post depth as an issue, but one that may be conquered with their speed.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re going to have to keep the floor spread and get out and pressure people a little bit more (than usual),\u201d Dillon said.<\/p>\n The Lady Pride will have their first test drive in a scrimmage against the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Club Team at Sinclair on Oct. 29.<\/p>\n \u201cI think if we can stay healthy, the sky\u2019s the limit,\u201d Dillon said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Sinclair Lady Pride has their eyes on returning to prominence in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC).
