\t\u201cOne thing with coming out that I\u2019ve come to understand is that it is a process for [parents] as much as it is for me, which sucks,\u201d Ethan Sacrenty, member of Brite Signal said. \u201cWhen I first came out it was, \u2018You\u2019re going to hell, and she was so upset\u2026\u2019 but now it\u2019s \u2018You and KC [their fiance] are coming over for Christmas right?\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\t\u201cI wish it wasn\u2019t a process for everyone else to understand, but going along with them as they\u2019re going along with you is very important,\u201d Sacrenty said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\t\u201cComing out is not a one-time process,\u201d Sky Burke, President of Brite Signal Alliance said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe reactions when I came out as bi and when I came out as trans were totally different, \u201cJaden Cypher of Bright Signal Alliance said. \u201cI came out to my mom as trans\u2026 she has a nickname for me \u2018Princess Petunia Blossom,\u2019 which even if I wasn\u2019t trans I wouldn\u2019t want her to call me that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\tFollowing his coming out, Cypher and his mom got into a fierce argument that changed his perspective on her permanently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\t\u201cShe basically just stood there telling me \u2018you\u2019re wrong, you\u2019re lying to yourself this is not who you are,\u2019 and that hurt because she was the second person I came out to as trans and having that be the second person\u2019s view was\u2026 not great,\u201d Cypher said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each member of the panel spoke about how they were able to create alternate families and support systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
All four confirmed that they\u2019ve cultivated their support system online, but they stress the importance of being aware of their surroundings and avoiding situations that may put them in danger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
