{"id":2514,"date":"2009-09-28T13:41:43","date_gmt":"2009-09-28T18:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/?p=2514"},"modified":"2017-06-22T09:39:49","modified_gmt":"2017-06-22T14:39:49","slug":"actor-looking-at-adding-to-past-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sinclairclarion.com\/home\/tartan-news\/2009\/09\/28\/actor-looking-at-adding-to-past-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Actor looking at adding to past performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a freshman at Stebbins High School, James Roselli gave his portrayal of Seymour in \u201cLittle Shop of Horrors.\u201d Nearly a decade later, 24-year-old Roselli is giving the role another whirl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was my first major role I ever had and first time singing in front of anybody,\u201d said Roselli about his debut. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of interesting to go back and play this role now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With another opportunity to resurrect the character of Seymour, Roselli is going to take the character down a different path.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve grown as an actor, so my style of performing has changed and my singing has grown tremendously,\u201d he said. \u201cThere are some aspects that are going to be different and some aspects where I\u2019m going to try and go back to the innocence of the character.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSeymour is a great role and I\u2019m just happy to do it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Roselli moved to New York City in 2007 to pursue a career in performing arts. While in New York, Roselli auditioned for musicals and plays, reaching the final callbacks for \u201cJesus Christ Superstar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I was there, I realized that you really do need to have some sort of training because you can\u2019t be too much of a raw talent in this career,\u201d Roselli said. \u201cI told myself to go back to school and get my training down. I just needed to come back and fill out that base and refine all my rough edges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roselli returned to the area in April 2008 and enrolled in classes at Sinclair. Roselli earned roles in Sinclair productions of \u201cMacbeth,\u201d as Banquo, and a cameo role in \u201cStop Kiss.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roselli said whether or not students are musical fans, \u201cLittle Shop of Horrors\u201d is a unique and hilarious production.<\/p>\n<p>Roselli said playing Seymour is a challenge that he has been working on all summer.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Nelson Sheely, \u201cLittle Shop of Horrors\u201d runs from Oct. 16-24.
