\u00a0 \u00a0For many years, “finding the need and endeavoring to meet it” has been the motto for Sinclair Community College, \u00a0a motto that has been adopted by the Theater Department. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0During the fall and spring semesters the theater will be putting on a variety of different genres of plays.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The first production to be performed live on stage is a musical called \u201cBe More Chill.\u201d Based on the 2004 book written by Ned Vizzini. The off-Broadway musical has quickly become an underground sensation and is now being brought to Sinclair\u2019s Blair Hall Theater.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The story is based on a nerdy teenager named Jeremy Heere, an ordinary high school nobody. Heere pines after the prettiest girl in school, Christine, but is forced to go through school day by day as the bullied dork. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0In an effort to climb the social food chain Heere finds out about a pill called Squip, that should help him to be more\u2026 chill.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cBe More Chill\u201d starts Friday Oct. 5 and ends Saturday Oct. 13 in Sinclair\u2019s Blair Hall Theater.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The next show the theater department is putting on is \u201cA Charlie Brown Christmas.\u201d Based on the television special by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson, Sinclair is bringing the show to life on the stage directed by Gina Kleesattel.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Back by popular demand, \u201cA Charlie Brown Christmas\u201d has become a sellout tradition for families at Sinclair. The show focuses on the familiar \u201cPeanuts\u201d characters grappling with the true meaning of Christmas and trying to find a way to celebrate the holiday together. The show begins on Thursday Dec. 13 and ends on Sunday Dec. 16. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cSilent Sky\u201d by Lauren Gunderson is the next play to come to the stage at Sinclair. Directed by Kimberly Borst, the show is centered around actual pioneer women of astronomy. These women made amazing scientific breakthroughs in the 1900\u2019s that contributed to our time period\u2019s understanding of the universe. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The true story of 19th-century astronomer Henrietta Leavitt explores a woman\u2019s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries. This took place during a time when women weren\u2019t taken seriously in science,and if they made a discovery the men took credit. <\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Henrietta Leavitt and other women pioneer to make a change while also trying to understand their place both on an earthly scale and the bigger picture of the universe.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Silent Sky is set to begin playing on Friday Feb. 8 and ends Saturday Feb. 16.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cAll Childish Things\u201d is a story of a heist gone wrong. Focusing on four Star Wars fans Dave, Carter, Max and Kendra, who get involved in a get rich quick scheme to raid Kenner Toys\u2019 secret warehouse and steal all the collectibles they can. That gets turned on its head and giving new meaning to the words number one fan.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0This play was nominated in 2006 for the prestigious American Theater Critics Award for best new play. Directed by Nelson Sheeley, \u201cAll Childish Things\u201d can be seen on Sinclair\u2019s Stage starting Friday April 5 and end Saturday April 13 in Sinclair\u2019s Blair Hall Theater.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The final play the Theater Department is showing this year is called \u201cEmpowered Moves\u201d directed by Rodney Veal. It plays on Sinclair\u2019s Blair Hall stage Friday May 17 and Saturday May 18 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0All shows are ASL interpreted and ticket sales started Sept. 1 2018, on the Sinclair Theater Productions Website.<\/span><\/p>\n
