I’m not much of planner. I like to have a general idea on what is going on, but besides that I tend to fly by the seat of my pants.<\/p>\n
This can be helpful and detrimental, at times. When I was getting ready to go to college during my senior year of high school, it was detrimental. The one time I went to Wright State for a party, it was helpful.<\/p>\n
I do understand that plans are necessary, so this past weekend, I tried my hand at planning.<\/p>\n
My friend Will, who is in the U.S. Marine Corps, came home for a 10-day vacation. I wanted Will, two of our friends and me to have night on the town since we don’t get to see each other that often. Whenever Will comes home, things never go as planned, and this time wasn’t any different. What was supposed to be a night where four friends went to the movies and out to eat ended up being a night where three friends eating at Steak ‘n Shake at midnight and eventually going to a place my mother wouldn’t be too proud of.<\/p>\n
I had a great time, but I just couldn’t shake the fact that my plans had been ruined.<\/p>\n
It shouldn’t be so hard to get four friends who haven’t seen each other in months to go out and have a good time, but it was.<\/p>\n
I don’t know if it’s because we’re dudes or it’s because we’re young, but too often we let things go with the flow when we need to grab life by the reins and lead towards the direction that we need to go in.<\/p>\n
I might be overreacting. Just because I couldn’t plan an evening to hang out with the boys doesn’t mean I can’t plan out more important things. But it’s a reminder to always remember that planning is necessary.<\/p>\n
Because everything isn’t going to fall magically into place, and even if you have to throw the plans out the window, at least you have something to build on when you’re left with nothing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
