Nick Voegele, an art student, said the sale was an opportunity for people to see what\u2019s happening in the art department.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are producing stuff worth having here at the school,\u201d Voegele said.<\/p>\n<p>The four-day sale featured paintings, drawings and ceramics created by students and teachers.  Jessica Allen, a journalism student at Sinclair, said she enjoyed browsing the display tables.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love it.  This art is very different.  Every piece has its own personality,\u201d Allen said.<\/p>\n<p>Art was available to everyone at an affordable price, according to Voegele.  Some smaller pieces were sold for $1, $3 or $4.  Some larger pieces were sold for $15, $20 or $35.  The art department received 10 percent of all sales, according to Associate Professor Bob Coates, who helped organize the event.<\/p>\n<p>Some pieces were on sale as they were left behind by former students, according to Coates.\u00a0 He said other items were raffled on the final day of the sale.\u00a0 Money from these pieces went toward art scholarships, he said.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nCoates described the sale as a co-op.\u00a0 Art students both helped set prices and run the sale table, he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt gives them some experience on how to sell art and how to price art,\u201d Coates said.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Eckley, an art student, said the sale was a way to supplement income.\u00a0 The art sale also gave students an opportunity to \u201ctest the waters\u201d and see what art people are buying, according to Voegele.<\/p>\n<p>Art sales are held twice a year, according to Coates.\u00a0 The next art sale will be in November, he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sinclair Community College hosted its semi-annual art sale last week in Building 13.
