\u00a0 \u00a0After months of delay, Fall Out Boy released their seventh studio album \u201cMANIA.\u201d Stylized as <\/span>M A \u00a0\u00a0N \u00a0\u00a0I \u00a0\u00a0A, the album hit shelves on Jan. 19, 2018. This marks their first full album since \u201cAmerican Beauty\/American Psycho\u201d came out on Jan. 20, 2015, almost three years prior to \u201cMANIA.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Originally set for release on Sept. 15, 2017, band frontman Patrick Stump decided to push the release date back due to the album \u201cfeeling rushed.\u201d Leading up to the final release date, several singles came out. Each song was released within three months of each other, a total of half the album coming out as singles before the album was fully unveiled for the public to listen to.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The first, \u201cYoung and Menace,\u201d came out on Apr. 27, 2017 alongside the music video for it. EDM influences are notable and hints towards a new shape for the group\u2019s sound. The second single, \u201cChampion,\u201d was posted Jun. 23, 2017 worldwide with a visualizer video while the <\/span>official<\/span><\/i> music video followed on Jul. 27 of the same year. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cThe Last of the Real Ones\u201d came out on Sept. 14, 2017. The fourth song, \u201cHold Me Tight or Don\u2019t,\u201dwhich has a music video that draws inspiration from the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, debuted on Nov. 15. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0To round off the singles, \u201cWilson (Expensive Mistakes)\u201d came out with the accompanying music video on Jan. 11, 2018.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Screen\u00a0 \u00a0The last five songs later released on the album are titled: \u201cStay Frosty Royal Milk Tea,\u201d \u201cChurch,\u201d \u201cHeaven\u2019s Gate,\u201d \u201cSunshine Riptide,\u201d and \u201cBishop\u2019s Knife Trick.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Leading up to the release, streaming sites actually ended up publishing the tracks out of order, creating a rift between how the digital and physical albums run through the songs.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Reviews from several different critics came in and, at average, \u201cMANIA\u201d has been given mixed and average reviews. Newspapers such as <\/span>The Guardian,<\/span><\/i> The New Zealand Herald,<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>NME<\/span><\/i> all rate it a three out of five stars while other reviews on different scales focus it around a 60 percent.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Despite having less than positive reviews overall, the album still managed to peak at number one on the UK Rock & Metal Albums chart as well as the US<\/span> Billboard <\/span><\/i>200 chart.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Fall Out Boy has been producing music as early as 2001 with their discography beginning with \u201cTake This To Your Grave\u201d in 2003. Following this album was \u201cFrom Under the Cork Tree\u201d in 2005. Their second album contains the \u201csong that changed my [Stump\u2019s] life,\u201d the tune being \u201cSugar, We\u2019re Goin\u2019 Down.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"Screen \u00a0Another two year break came after their 2005 hit and it led into the group\u2019s third studio album \u201cInfinity on High.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Breaking their pattern, Fall Out Boy released their fourth album only a year later under the title of \u00a0\u201cFolie \u00e0 Deux\u201d and, with that, the rock band wouldn\u2019t be releasing another full-length album for half a decade.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0\u201cSave Rock and Roll\u201d was their comeback album in 2013 and featured \u201cMy Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light \u2018Em Up),\u201d a track that shot up to number two on iTunes within hours of its release. The return was reviewed as a success and Fall Out Boy was welcomed back to the music scene after their hiatus with open arms.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Since then, their next two albums have gone downhill in the eyes of critics, but that doesn\u2019t seem to be stopping this group from doing what they love.<\/span><\/p>\n
