\u00a0 \u00a0Welcome to 2018, a new year with the opportunity to experience new things. And that can all start right here in Dayton and at Sinclair. So, what can you expect from Spring semester?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Dayton has a few large stage theaters, as well as several community theaters throughout the area. Two of the most well known theaters are the Schuster Center and the Victoria Theater. They are located in downtown Dayton only a block away from each other.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The Schuster Center will hit the ground running in 2018 with performances nearly every month. They will be showing many classics as well as some less common productions. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0February at the Schuster Center will feature \u201cThe Sound of Music\u201d showing Feb. 13-18. \u201cThe Barber of Seville\u201d will run two nights Mar. 2 and 4. \u201cPhantom of the Opera\u201d will also be performed at the Schuster center for several weekends in April. The show will debut the 11th and have its final showing the 22nd. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Information about both the Schuster and the Victoria and their shows can be found at the Victoria Theater Association website. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Sinclair has a theater scene of its own with multiple productions already scheduled throughout the year.\"363A9400-DCF3-3083-B9798B2B9C0A7E9D_medium\" <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The theater department\u2019s next show will be \u201cFahrenheit 451\u201d which will debut on Feb. 9 and run for two weekends. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Shows are performed at Blair hall theater, located in building 2. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0If you prefer musical performances Sinclair also has choirs and bands. These groups will be performing several concerts throughout the semester, and all have free admission. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0These include a winter concert Feb. 25, a gospel ensemble March 16 and a Jazz ensemble on April 27. Most of these are also located in the Blair hall theater. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Another downtown venue is the Dayton Convention Center. DCC is home to several events and exhibits every year. One of the more popular events the DCC holds is the annual Gem City Comic Con March 24 and 25. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0With artists, writers, and vendors with tons of merch from basically every fandom, new and old comics and games alike, Gem City Comic Con has made a name for itself. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0And that\u2019s just some of the events in the area, there are several ongoing activities that the Dayton area will continue to offer in 2018. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0If you\u2019re brave enough to face the cold, the Riverscape ice skating rink will remain open until March. Fifth St. in the Oregon District is lined with stores and restaurants, and the Neon theater near the end of the strip. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The Neon plays mainstream movies as well as documentaries, foreign films and Indie films. All in a small theater they describe as \u201cfunky.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0Along with all the theaters and events, the Dayton area is home to quite a few museums. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0The Dayton Art Institute is right downtown, the United State Air Force Museum is 10 minutes away from campus and the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery only 7 minutes. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0With all these things and more, 2018 could be the year to experience something new or revisit something you have always loved.<\/span><\/p>\n
