Commentary<\/strong><\/p>\n

Last fall, I did a column that dealt with fashion. I never claimed to be a fashion connoisseur, but I try hard to know the do\u2019s and don\u2019ts of being in touch with one\u2019s fashion sense. Being fashionably aware is extremely important with summer peeking from the staircase, especially if you pride yourself on what you wear.<\/p>\n

I always stress that the best thing to do when it comes to this fashion business is to be true to yourself. I know that sometimes when I plan on going somewhere I might want to throw on a V-neck with a vest and some Levi\u2019s denim and other times I want to put on some basketball shorts with some Nike sandals and socks on \u2013 preferably black socks. So please, wear what fits you.<\/p>\n

With that out of the way, let\u2019s get to the good stuff.<\/p>\n

Friends don\u2019t let friends hump trends<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nothing is worse than a poser. You shouldn\u2019t want to wear Air Jordans because everyone you know wears Jordans, you should wear them because they are the freshest gym shoes, ever.<\/p>\n

Look at what happened to Bape. Bape was a big deal three or four years ago because all the rappers were mentioning it in their lyrics and you\u2019d see Lil Wayne wearing it on the cover of Vibe magazine. Now, I hardly see anyone wearing Bape. And, it\u2019s not because Bape has lost their touch \u2013 they haven\u2019t\u2014it\u2019s because people hopped off the bandwagon just to hop on another one.<\/p>\n

Not to mention that, Lil Wayne is the<\/em> biggest trendhumper ever.<\/p>\n

Just a \u201cTees\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve found some great Web sites with novelty t-shirts for under $20 a piece. Sites like stylinonline.com has a great inventory of t-shirts of cartoon characters, superheroes and rock bands. They even have the classic t-shirt of President Barack Obama ripping off his suit Superman-style.<\/p>\n

Denim, Denim, read all about it<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jeans can be a man\u2019s best friend or his worst nightmare. You don\u2019t want them to be too big \u2013 at least I don\u2019t \u2013 and you don\u2019t want them to be too tight. Which is why it is in one\u2019s best interest to hit up a tailor to find out what your sizes are. It\u2019ll be worth it in the long run \u2013 especially if you plan on being a suit and tie man.<\/p>\n

Another tip that will help with your denim woes is to try on the pants before buying them. I used to not be a big fan of the dressing room, but as I\u2019ve gotten wiser the dressing room has helped me stay away from pants that are the size of MC Hammer\u2019s.<\/p>\n

And you do remember what happened to Hammer, right?<\/p>\n
