Zoe King is one of the incoming freshman to Sinclair Community College having graduated with the class of 2017 from Beavercreek High School. She is 18 years old and excited for the future.<\/span><\/p>\n

King is a bit of an introvert but once you get to know her you wouldn\u2019t even have guessed she was shy. She has a keen interest in all kinds of engineering; and a love for space and space travel. <\/span><\/p>\n

Though she moved around a lot as a kid, Zoe was born and raised within the confines of Beavercreek, Ohio. <\/span><\/p>\n

She decided to attend Sinclair Community College because she felt it was better to get her general education knocked out at a good price, instead of paying for them at a big university. <\/span><\/p>\n

Zoe plans to transfer to Miami University after she acquires enough credits to do so. King is very excited as she plans to earn her degree and get her career underway as soon as possible. <\/span><\/p>\n

She plans to study and eventually major in mechanical engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt covers a wide scope of topics and I love learning about as many things as possible all at once,\u201d King said.<\/span><\/p>\n

King plans to get a bachelor\u2019s degree in mechanical engineering but would hope to specialize in Aerospace Engineering as a graduate degree. <\/span><\/p>\n

King also notes that she has interest in working for NASA as she pursues her graduate\u2019s degree. The area of study she would hope to be working in at NASA is on the builder\u2019s crew constructing the rockets. She also showed enthusiasm in conducting research to further understand our Solar System and the planets in and surrounding it. <\/span><\/p>\n

One of her favorite figures is Elon Musk, and she loves these quotes from him about Mars colonization: <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to die on Mars, just not on impact,\u201d Musk said. \u201cI hope that even if not in my lifetime we colonize Mars, and I would like to do whatever I can to help with research and building to help get us to that point eventually.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

King takes her approach to her education very seriously, as she is very much a perfectionist. <\/span>However, she understands it’s okay to take a step back every now and then and take a much needed and well deserved break.<\/span><\/p>\n

King holds herself to high standards which can be seen and felt in her presence. King also seems to hold her friends to the same high standards and is always expecting the best from them. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFailure is inevitable but it\u2019s a learning experience and whether you chose to learn from it is a pivotal decision,\u201d King said. \u201cI hold myself to high standards because I know I can always strive to be better, and I like to surround myself with people who are like-minded.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

King sees herself achieving most, if not all, her goals in the future; like building blocks towards a bright future, she plans on taking everything one step at a time.<\/span><\/p>\n

King shared a quote she used from her high school graduation that she believes is important for the Sinclair community to hear:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe’ve always defined ourselves by the ability to overcome the impossible. And we count these moments. These moments when we dare to aim higher, to break barriers, to reach for the stars, to make the unknown known. We count these moments as our proudest achievements. But we lost all that. Or perhaps we’ve just forgotten that we are still pioneers. And we’ve barely begun. And that our greatest accomplishments cannot be behind us, because our destiny lies above us.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

King is a proud and excited member of Sinclair who looks to use her education to forge new relationships and propel herself forward into excellence.<\/span><\/p>\n
